Great Divide Mountain Bike Route
Max and Andy’s Big Adventure
On June 17, 2025, Max and Andy are hopping on their bikes in Calgary, Alberta, and pointing their tires south toward Mexico. In between: about 2,600 miles of mostly gravel roads, 150,000 feet of climbing, and a whole lot of gas station food.
The route winds through British Columbia, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and finally into New Mexico. It’s called the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, and it’s the longest off-pavement bike route in the world. We’ll be traveling unsupported, which means no one’s following us with snacks or a comfy bed. We’ll be carrying our own gear, figuring out where to sleep each night, and hoping our bikes (and legs) hold up.
We’re expecting some beautiful scenery, plenty of sore muscles, and probably a few moments of wondering why we thought this was a good idea. But mostly, we’re just looking forward to the challenge, the quiet roads, and some father-son bonding.
Wish us luck—and send snacks.
Our daily rides will vary in length, hoping for a few 100+ mile days. They can be viewed below.
